The Rent Fairy was born from a simple but powerful idea, scribbled into a notebook by Sarah Elkordi during her early days in real estate. After more than a decade working across some of Sydney’s most recognised agencies. She watched countless renters apply again and again, only to be overlooked, not because they were not good tenants, but because they were not being positioned in the right way.
Today, backed by years of industry experience and recognised through awards, television appearances, and media features, The Rent Fairy has become a trusted voice for renters navigating a competitive market.

I get it - rents increase, landlords have rights, the market moves.. but CMON all this fuss about affordability when assessing applications but no regard at the rental increase. My heart breaks for tenants who are forced to move due to the increase they cannot afford and ending up in the same position 12 months later.

As I sit here posting this, I can’t help but reflect on the last six years.

2020 - I was a newly single mum and covid began.
No job, no income, and a six monthold baby — with no clear idea of what was next.

I remember sitting with my mum, talking about an idea I had carried for years… and deciding I was just going to try.

No perfect plan.
No experience.
Just belief, resilience, and the right people around me.

There were moments I felt lost.
Moments I questioned everything.
But I kept going.

And now six years later, I’ve just hosted an event surrounded by powerful, inspiring women — all on their own journeys, all showing up with so much support and love.

That didn’t happen overnight.
It was built through every challenge, every setback, and every small win along the way.

Sometimes you really have to stop and realise…
you’re living the life you once prayed for.

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt… it’s that you don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to start.
